For Trevor's next pick of a new album from 2021 he selects the latest from Counting Crows titled Butter Miracle Suite 1. Joining them for this album dive is Katie Darby Mullins. In addition to being a die-hard fan of the band herself, Katie is also a longtime friend of lead singer Adam Duritz. If that wasn't enough, she teaches creative writing at the University of Evansville including a course called, "How to write about music," and is a gifted poet and novelist (see more on Katie below). Shane, Trevor, and Katie have fun diving deep into the lyrics of one of their favorite songwriters after what has been a 7 year break since Counting Crows last album. This 4 song suite is a unique endeavor for Adam Duritz who found himself being inspired by the solitude of staying at a friends home in London and the challenge of creating a series of songs that all bleed together into one. The hallmarks of great writing and musicianship that fans have come to expect from the band are all here, but after nearly 30 years of being a band, Butter Miracle shows just how much Counting Crows are still very much a band pushing themselves creatively.
