In this video, I am un-boxing my best Christmas present to myself this year! An old vintage PLUMB Boys Axe. I'm not positive of the date yet but I've found several sites that show an identical head that dates between 1940's and the 1950's. I plan to hang this axe with a 19" to 21" handle. I don't really want to try my hand at hand milling an axe handle just yet but if I have to, I will.
Here's an interesting link I found to a pdf from the U.S. Forest Service showing a similar PLUMB Boys Axe 2.25 lb head mounted on a 19" handle. Good stuff! Look at page 11! Figure 19.
