Today I am bringing you some really good stuff right here so in the shop we had a 2012 Chevy equinox that had a bad piston in one cylinder. Of course we could remove the crank and replace the piston and probably repaired the problem but the vehicle already had 190,000 miles on the engine . And the other problem was that a used engine For this equinox with 100,000 miles would’ve been about $2200. And in my opinion would have still needed the head gaskets and the timing chain replaced. And at that point we may as well have our original engine just rebuilt if we’re going to spend $2800 on parts at the local engine rebuilder. I came up with a little bit different solution I purchased an engine out of a 2006 Chevy cobalt 2.4. With 100,000 miles on it for ONLY 400.00 and I am going to replace the timing chains and head gaskets and switch the cylinder head from my original engine to the 2012. I have verified that everything is the same. And this will work. So if you’re working on a 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 Chevy equinox or A 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 GMC terrain and you need to swap your engine check the situation out and see if it will work make sure you verify both of them externally are the same or the differences are not going to affect the overall end. Installation because the 2006 is going to have less components than your 2012 or etc. I cannot promise this will be the same but I could almost be for sure that it does not matter what 2.4 you get is long as it’s from a General Motors vehicle let’s say 2006 or later because I don’t want to steer you wrong in a 2005 be different you should be OK and that should save you thousands of dollars. If you’re planning on doing the work yourself.
