Jerry and George faced the added risks and uncertainties of operating in an illegal world. Brody had created a nice side business bringing bootlegged versions of theater films to the streets and forced Jerry, who showed particular potential with his skills, into this illegal activity. George, looking to impress a woman as the “bad boy,” willingly participated in the bootlegging but paid the price when he was caught. Both experienced the additional uncertainty – and downside – of working outside the law, which should be avoided by entrepreneurs who are interested in creating sustainable, legitimate business enterprises.
