In this video I will show you how to do a very simple yet very important thing many beginner sharpener neglect: Keeping a water stone flat.
It takes no longer than a couple of minutes to do, and you should do it after 3-4 knives sharpened. Always avoid to reach a stage where you stone is VERY dished (like in the video). Flatten more often, it's easy.
Step-by-step:
1. Draw a flattening grid on the dished stone. Horizontal and Vertical lines.
2. Place dished stone and flattening stone in water for a couple of minutes
3. Put the damaged stone on a flat surface, and rub the flattening stone on it until the lines you've drawn are gone completely.
4. Your stone is flat. Repeat every 3-4 knives, or whenever you see that the stone lost its flat shape. Use a ruler to check for flatness.
By doing this, your water stones will last for a long time :)
