PLEASE HIT SHOW MORE BELOW!
This is my mod guide for the Nerf Mega Magnus
Please excuse the jump-cuts, it's the only way I could make the video a manageable size!
The Mega Magnus is pretty cool as it is, although it does only have a 3-Dart capacity, so I decided to make those 3 darts count by transplanting a 10Kg spring from NFStrike, surprisingly the spring itself feels really tough, but once installed (after forgetting bits and having to take it apart twice, hence the jump-cuts) it gives the Magnus a much more pleasing power increase and is surprisingly not much harder to prime than the stock spring, but you will have to prime it like you mean it.
There's no need to remove the AR, you get maybe a 5 FPS increase for all the work involved, the N-strike Elite Air Restrictors do a pretty good job as they are and it's only worth removing one if you have sufficient plunger-padding and it's an absolute necessity, like in the Longshot Worker kits. Otherwise they're pretty efficient, I know some people remove the AR's regardless, but why put in the extra work if you don't have to for minimal power increase and running the risk of destroying your plunger rod, head or tube rendering your blaster useless?
It's not as tough as my K26'd Kronos to prime, but still it's noticeable and not as hard to prime as my modded Mega Cycloneshock, although my Cycloneshock performs much better, I suppose that's the trade-off.
It was a little fiddly to put back together, especially the "lips" where you load the darts, they like to pop off the rails so holding it in place with a small screwdriver helped the lip from being pushed off the rails by the springs.
Overall the mod wasn't difficult, just a bit fiddly, I've completely modded the internals in a Longshot, which was a lot harder and took a lot longer than this to do.
I haven't been able to chrono it and the weather outside was terribly damp and incredibly windy, so no range test (I may do in the future) but indoors it was clearing 40 feet level easily and still hitting with a satisfying thud, the accuracy has also improved, but that was the same with my modded Mega Cycloneshock which outshoots a stock Kronos and is just as accurate.
Pro tip - Remember to put the internal clip in before you screw it all back together or you're going to have a bad time.
I still have a 9Kg spring for my Doubledealer (that one I'm dreading, it's like modding 2 Rampages with a single plunger tube) to install and a 12Kg spring for my Mega Rotofury to install, but overall, this was a pretty easy mod as everything was nice and compact and compartmentalised and came apart easily and went back together without too much trouble, so long as you remember the internal magazine!
I have some electronic mods to do so I might LiPo my Zeus next, that should be easy or LiPo my Modulus with a full rewire, Fang Revampeds, Bulldog flywheels and a new (one of my) 3D Printed 42mm cages, so that'll probably be next.
I'm sorry I haven't uploaded much lately, my mom passed away a few weeks ago and I've been having to deal with funeral arrangements and sorting out everything as well as the loss of my mom.
Hopefully I'll be able to do some more mod guides soon, it's just been a difficult time and I've been pretty depressed, more than usual.
Take away from this video what you will, I hope it helps at least one person out, then I know I've made a difference.
It's definitely an improvement over the stock grey trigger version and actually shoots straight with some decent performance.
What would you guys like to see? Some more reviews? Dart Comparisons? Mod guides? Me making a fool of myself?
Leave a comment below and let me know, I still have a box of motors and some 3D printed cages as well as some lovely Bulldog flywheels as well as some upgrade springs, I need to fix my Alphahawk, so that might end up being a diagnostics video.
