It takes the efforts of many stakeholders to get people back into the workforce, according to Beth Davis, vice president of training and analytics at SkillUp Coalition.

The coalition is made up of “training and education providers, tech firms, employers, and philanthropies” with a goal of moving workers into high-growth jobs.

“What we try to do is expose those workers to opportunities where they can quickly upskill and find themselves in in-demand careers and growing industries,” says Davis.

WorkingNation sat down with Davis at the ASU+GSV Summit in San Diego.

She says after the completion of training, there are two ways to access a job.

“SkillUp identifies high-quality training programs. They have very customized placement services. We're lucky enough to have found many training providers that have completion rates that are higher than 80% and placement rates where most of the workers who complete are placed in their field within six months or less.”

“We also work with employer partners who are looking for the types of workers who SkillUp is serving. It's really a good idea to find employers who are willing to commit to hiring workers even if they don't have that four-year degree.”
