On this day trip from Tainan South Taiwan, we decided to walk all the way from Tainan city center to the old city of Anping. Anping is the oldest city in Taiwan, and it used to be the capital of Taiwan until 1887! We explored the Old Anping Fort, which was originally named Fort Zeelandia, and built by the invading Dutch. Koxinga took back the city from the Dutch and they built a fortification on top of Fort Zeelandia. All that remains of Fort Zeelandia is a single wall, covered in tree roots. Anping is a beautiful little city to get lost wandering.
