Hill Start is a technique that we use to stop the car from rolling back on the hills.
On hills, gravity is going to pull your car backward before moving off and if there is a car behind you, you might hit them. So it's very important to learn about hill start to avoid such accidents.
Hill start is also one of the manoeuvres that the driving examiner might ask you to do on your driving test.

Watch this video to learn how to hill start, whether your car has a handbrake, a foot parking brake or an automatic brake hold.

The newer versions of the cars have hill start assist or hill hold control technology, which will hold your car on the hills for 2 to 3 seconds even after releasing the brake. and if you are too slow in shifting your foot from the brake to the accelerator, your car still rolls back. Therefore, it's good to learn how to do a hill start.

Remember to use the hill start technique anytime you stop your car on a hill for any reason. During your driving test, anytime you roll back before moving off on the hills, you will get one minor driving error.
