GE's 8 Series Protection relays provide necessary protection for critical assets in the power grid and industrial sites, but they also capture a wealth of data that can be used to help evaluate the condition of these critical assets, identify faults, prevent unexpected outages and improve life expectancy.
In this video we provide an overview of the integration of GE's 869 Motor Protection Relay and 845 Transformer Protection Relay into the Perception Fleet Asset Risk Management software.
For the 869 relay we cover including the electrical signal analysis (ESA) and learned data records (LDR) to determine potential motor faults and the effected sub systems using diagnostics tools such as the ESA circle, pre-defined data tables and trend charts along with models. We also show how Perception Fleets Motor Risk algorithm can automatically evaluate the data provided by the 869 relay and determine a Risk Index for the motor.
For the 845 relay we cover how the data from this relay can be evaluated individually or cross-correlated with data from GE's Kelman DGA 900 to determine if increased levels of gases occur after a trip event or identify other significant patterns. We also show how Perception Fleets Motor Risk algorithm can automatically evaluate the models data provided by the 845 relay and determine a Risk Index for the Transformer.
