The Northside Skull and Bones Gang sing their signature warning song. The gang gets Mardi Gras started in the Treme neighborhood of New Orleans, USA. Founders say the gang, the "original bone and skeleton gang," started in 1819.
Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Skull and Bones Gang leader says, “We wake up the city at 5:30 Mardi Gras morning to bring our family spirits back from the cemetery and invite them to take a walk with us. We go door-to-door singing and having a good time, but we also bring a serious social message to the neighborhood. Do not do drugs, domestic violence of any type, or gun violence— all those things that will lead to your ultimate demise.”
"Live a fruitful life," he continued. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
"When people see us coming, some people go running and screaming and crying, others come and greet us. When you see a dead man walking, you know Mardi Gras is on."
