9 - Michael Jackson…
Another man who needs very little introduction is Michael Jackson, dubbed the “King of Pop.” Most certainly one of the most popular entertainers ever, he made massive contributions to the world of music, dance and fashion! His autograph is as eccentric as he was, and one expert believes the flourishes in the signature are representative of his dancing – full of style!
8 - Oprah Winfrey…
We go from the King of Pop to the Queen of all Media – Oprah Gail Winfrey! This talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist – just to name a few – was the richest African American of the 20th century! She was also North America’s first multi-billionaire black person! Her signature is worth it’s weight in gold, as she’s also been ranked the most influential woman in the world! If you have something bearing her autograph, hold on to it – it could definitely be worth something in the future.
7 - Jay Leno…
This American comedian and TV host could have been a doctor as he’s signature is barely legible! He made his first appearance on The Tonight Show way back in 1977 when he performed a comedy routine. Little did he know that he would end up hosting the show himself, which became The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Although he doesn’t have any kids, he does a much-loved cat called Cheese!
6 - F. Scott Fitzgerald…
Signatures by this great author are extremely rare, and if you have one in your possession – you could be on the fast track to extreme wealth! Fitzgerald is the author of The Great Gatsby, and he published this while living in Paris. In 2004, a letter bearing his signature auctioned for $90,000! Some lucky person had a 1st edition of The Great Gatsby, which was made out to Harold Goldman, whom Fitzgerald considered the “original Gatsby.” The person in possession of the book walked away with $191,000.
5 - Elizabeth I…
1533 was the year Elizabeth I was born, and she was the last monarch of the House of Tudor. (TWO-DER) Considered one of the most iconic women in history, Elizabeth I was wedded to her country. Often called the Virgin Queen, she never married but ruled her people for 44-years! There are some believe that the real Elizabeth didn’t survive childhood and she was replaced with the only red-haired boy available, who fooled everyone into thinking he was a woman, which is one of the reasons she… I mean he… never married! Her signature is rather elaborate, wouldn’t you say?
4 - Marilyn Monroe…
A much catchier name then her birth name of Norma Jeane Mortenson, Marilyn Monroe was the “blonde bombshell” of the 1950’s. Up until her passing in 1962, her films grossed in the region of $200 million! To side-track a little, Monroe confessed to not being much of a cook, however, some of her recipes were found and in 2010 the New York Times attempted to make her stuffing. The result? They said, “she not only cooked, but cooked confidently and with flair.”
3 - Ernest Hemingway…
Another signature that would be an excellent investment, is that of Ernest Hemmingway. Hemmingway was a novelist, author and short story writer. A couple of his works included For Whom the Bell Tolls and The Old Man and the Sea, which won the 1953 Pulitzer. A note that he had written to Marlene Dietrich (DEE-TRICK) , a great friend of his, in 1955 sold for $35,000 in 2004. A letter he wrote to Ezra Pound in 1925 fetched $157,326 when it was auctioned off in 2007. Signed copies of his books are even more valuable, with some fetching as much as $370,000 at auction.
2 - Katy Perry…
Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson needs little introduction. The girl with the contralto vocal range has done enormously well for herself, although I doubt her autograph would fetch anywhere near in the region of Ernest Hemmingway – still something super to add to your collection of Katy Perry merchandise.
