Fanhua, or "Blossoms Shanghai", the first TV series shot by Shanghai-born Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai, goes viral for its rich and moody visuals as well as its characters and romances bringing Shanghai in the 1990s back to life. It is aired in two versions: one in Shanghainese and one dubbed into Mandarin or Putonghua.
Actors and actresses took part in special finale events and interacted with fans at local cinemas on Tuesday. The 30-episode drama has become one of the highest-rated homegrown series in recent years.
