The German took off behind the peak and rode a bumpy, giant mountain of moving water at Praia do Norte, in Nazaré, Portugal.
The big wave surfer from Nuremberg ended up being nominated for "Ride of the Year" at the 2018 World Surf League (WSL) Big Wave Awards.
