After refusing for months to institute paid sick-leave, Ontario Premier Doug Ford reversed course and said his government was working on a solution. He did not offer any details on when it would be announced.
Ford said people forced into quarantine should not have to worry about their jobs or income, while speaking from his own self-isolation after a member of his staff tested positive for COVID-19.
Ford also apologized on Thursday for increasing police enforcement powers and closing playgrounds last week amid surging cases, in a widely criticized move.
Travis Dhanraj reports on a government in crisis.
