The Sounder is a commuter train that runs along Puget Sound in Washington State. Trains are operated by Sound Transit on two different routes. The North route travels between downtown Seattle and Everett while the South route runs from Seattle to Lakewood, a few miles past Tacoma. Sounder service began on September 18th, 2000 with the opening of the south line. Three years later, regular service began on the north line to Everett. September of 2020 marks the commuter railroad’s 20th anniversary. Let’s celebrate by taking a look at some Sounder commuter trains in action over the last several years!
