====================
The Northrop T-38 Talon is a two-seat, twinjet supersonic jet trainer. It was the world's first supersonic trainer and is also the most produced. The T-38 remains in service as of 2017 in several air forces.
The United States Air Force (USAF) operates the most T-38s. In addition to training USAF pilots, the T-38 is used by NASA. The U.S. Naval Test Pilot School is the principal US Navy operator (other T-38s were previously used as USN aggressor aircraft until replaced by the similar Northrop F-5 Tiger II). Pilots of other NATO nations fly the T-38 in joint training programs with USAF pilots.
As of 2017, the T-38 has been in service for over 50 years with its original operator, the United States Air Force.
The Talon has been one of our obsession since PI was first established. However, even with the simplicity of the design, we heard that there were so many challenges in how it flew when scaling it down to RC scratchbuilt with rear mounted pusher motor. Torque roll, twitchy, were just few of some other characteristics of this rc beauty. So, we suspended the idea of designing one.
Early in 2018, through some discussions we had, then we finally came up with the design that was made based on some unnoticeable mods we did with hope that it will fly fast enough, nimble as well as stable.
With fresh start this year and following the release of PI Sukhoi SU-30SM G3R, we'd like to welcome James "Jim" Soyak and Peter Holmgren on board, as Parkflyers International members. Their knowledge will definitely enrich PI in every way. May we come up with more and better designs to enjoy building and flying, and share them with the world.
My setup is:
