This Leopard really did not take any nonsense and hid in the long grass to lash out at the unaware Hyena. The Hyena most probably caught the scent of the leopard and followed as they regularly follow leopards in the hope to steal their prey.
This Hyena was definitely surprised by the leopard and would not have stood a chance against him. The Hyena can count himself lucky that he came out of the altercation unscarred.
Did you know leopards are one of the only predators that hide their kills in trees to keep it away from scavengers such as Hyenas and Lions. They can drag animals more than twice their size into trees.
