This means so much that It's going to be hard to explain so sorry if you really can't understand what I'm trying to get at...
I always use to tell myself and Josie, "Josie will show them. We'll prove to them that we CAN amount to bigger things than this." I was so focused on that. Yeah, it's pretty practical. We all want to prove people wrong, do something so great or turn some 'un-teachable' horse into some jumping star and laugh in people's faces. But really listening to this... I really understood. None of us need to prove anything to ANYONE. You need to prove it to yourself. You think you can take your broken down horse and turn him/her into something great, you MUST prove to yourself you can. Otherwise nothing really matters.
I want to quit. Many times I go home and not want to go back to the barn because I had such an awful ride. But I do anyways. I go every day and practice. I can't quit. I want to prove to myself we can do something and in order to do that... I can't quit. I can't.
