Scouting the morning before this hunt, things were not looking promising. We were ready to pull the plug on this spot to find a larger concentration of cranes, but thankfully we chose to give the area one more shot that evening. As the sun was setting, we found a solid feed of cranes and were able to secure permission for the morning! You’ve seen us go with the “Death From Below,” inside the spread style hunts with ducks, specks, snows, and Canadas, but this time we decided to do it on the cranes as this wide open field was perfect for it. Using 15 dozen C2 Crane Silhouettes, Kickbacks, and Stealth Sheet ghillie blankets, we made quick work of a 3-man crane limit, shooting them up close and personal. Cranes flying just feet above the ground into the spread is an incredibly unique and memorable experience. Make sure you give it a try sometime if the situation presents itself!
