On Sunday, 27 November Pastor Craig Baxter continues the series 'Unsearchable Riches of Christ' with 'Living but Dead' from Ephesians 2:1-3.
The late Bishop of Durham England (1901-1920), Handley Moule, was right when he wrote, “Never was there a heresy, but it had something to do with an insufficient estimate of sin.” Paul understands that the moment we begin to downplay the gravity of human sinfulness is the moment we begin to strip the cross of its inestimable value and importance. Therefore, Paul contrasts the horrible plight of believers before their experience of Christ with their new life in Christ now. This experience can only be described as passing from death to life. In this study we learn that we need a Saviour because we are spiritually dead, completely enslaved, and eternally damned.
