About three days ago I finally received my 10 pieces of 2N6027 that I had bought for cheap off the internet. Now, up to this point, I had a very good impression of the company I normally buy my parts from, like the IRFP460s and the various amounts of chips like the IR2153. Their prices are very reasonable and of course, quality is superb. However, this time, when I was to check out the famous PUT oscillator circuit, I plugged in the 2N6027 and quickly realized that something was VERY wrong.
It turns out the 722-2N6027 I had bought are NOT programmable unijunction transistors; in actual fact they are silicon controlled rectifiers. So here is a video to hopefully teach people how to get around this annoying problem. Of course, a light bulb flasher video will be coming out. This circuit is based around a SCR oscillator that I have on this channel, modified in order to replicate a 'PUJT' style oscillator. To the right is a proper PUJT oscillator with a real 2N6028 I bought yesterday from the shops.
A dual light bulb flasher will come out soon.
