The Trans-Siberian Railway is a network of railways structured between 1891 and 1916 that connects Moscow with the Russian Far East. With a length of 9,289 kilometers (5,772 miles), it is the longest railway line in the world. There are connecting branch lines into Mongolia, China and North Korea and is still being expanded.
The real Trans-Siberian Railway is the line that connects Moscow with Vladivostok.
On December of 2014 I took the Trans Mongolian Railway that follows the ancient tea-caravan route from China to Russia and connects Ulan-Ude, on the Trans-Baikal (Trans-Siberian) railway in Russia, with the Chinese city of Jining, by way of Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia. It starts from Moscow and it ends in Beijing. It takes approximately 6 days (129h 40m) and crosses 5.792 km.
Trans-Siberian trains can be either Russian either Chinese. I took the Chinese one us it is the oldest still running. Its locomotives are colored green, instead of the Russian grey once.
First class ticket costs (2014) approximately 800 Euros per person and reefers to a small privet cabin with two beds (one up to the other) a small table and a couch. You also share with another cabin a shower room. Toilet is not included in the cabin. It is situated at the end of each locomotive. (Only one for 9 cabins) Second class ticket costs (2014) approximately 500 Euros per person and reefers to a small four bed cabin. (For up to date prices visit [ Ссылка ])
