(5 Mar 2014) Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and Colombia's first lady Maria Clemencia Rodriguez spent Wednesday visiting a child care centre in the capital, Bogota.
The appearance was part of the Queen's three day visit to Colombia as the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA).
Both women were given dolls as presents which were made by the children.
After the visit to the child care centre, the Queen attended a meeting of the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia.
During her speech, she said financial inclusion wasn't just about having a bank or representative "just around the corner," but about having access to products that "really add value to their daily lives."
A little later in the day, the Queen attended a news conference where she spoke about teaching her own children the value of money by giving them an allowance.
"They have to come up with a plan of what it is they want to do with that money. They need to know how much to save and what they are saving for," she said.
Queen Maxima is a native of Argentina and became queen in April 2013 when her husband, Prince Willem-Alexander was inaugurated as king.
