Popcru has welcomed the Correctional Services Department's decision to
cancel G4S' contract to run the Mangaung prison.

It comes after convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester allegedly
faked his death in a fire to escape from the Bloemfontein prison last
year.

Investigative journalist and Misery Merchants author Ruth Hopkins says
the contract should have been terminated ages ago.
