By then, The London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Coronation Class 8P 4-6-2s (Pacific) is a Steam Locomotives, was introduced in 1937, they were be Designed by ‘Sir William A. Stanier, FRS’ (Born: May 27th 1876 - Died: September 27th 1965) they were Total 38 of them are Built between in 1937 to 1948 here we at the Builder LMS Workshops at Crewe Works, so for his working onto The Second MainLine Express Passenger Service Trains.
The Locomotives were specifically Designed for Power as it was intended to use them on Express Services between London Euston and Glasgow Central on their Duties were to include the hauling of a Proposed Non-stop Express, subsequently named the ‘Coronation Scot’. The First as Ten of them Locomotives of the Coronation Class Pacifics were Built in a Streamlined form in 1937 by the addition of a Steel Streamlined Casing. The Five of these Ten were specifically set aside to pull the Coronation Scot.
Although a Later Batch of Five Unstreamlined Locomotives was Produced in 1938, most of the ensuing Coronation Class were Outshopped as Streamliners. From 1944 until Production Ended in 1948, All-New Locomotives were Built in Unstreamlined form and all the Streamliners had their Casings Removed. The Last of the 38 Locomotives was Completed in 1948.
So they we’re The End of between in December 1962 to October 1964 was in all of 35 Locomotives they we’re been Withdrawn and then for Scrapped to Cut Up for now Due in May 1963 to March 1965.
Then as now onto Preservation of all Three of them, and there was;
#1. No.46229 ‘Duchess of Hamilton’ (Built: September 1938 - De-streamlined: January 1948 - Withdrawn: February 1964)
#2. No.46233 ‘Duchess of Sutherland’ (Built: July 1938 - Withdrawn: February 1964)
#3. No.46235 ‘City of Birmingham’ (Built: July 1939 - De-streamlined: April 1946 - Withdrawn: October 1964)
