In this meditation, you'll relax the Triple Burner, also known as San Jiao or Triple Heater, on a deep level. The combination of acupressure points opens the Divergent meridian of the Triple Burner. This is a deeper course that purifies, relaxes, and heals. You can do this meditation at any time of the day.
However, it is extra powerful between 9 pm and 11 pm. At this time, the Triple Burner is very receptive to healing work, according to the Chinese organ clock. The relaxation you'll experience at this time of the day will be a preparation for a deep night's sleep.
What acupressure points do we touch in this series?
Triple Burner 4, on the outside of the wrist. This point is a preparation for the other acupressure points. It relaxes the arm, shoulders, chest, and abdomen. It relaxes mentally and emotionally.
The following points open the above-mentioned Divergent vessel and give deep rest.
Triple Burner 20, above the auricle. It clears consciousness, gives inner space. Supports energy flow in eyes, jaws, cheeks, and neck.
Governing Vessel 20, on top of the head. Clears the mind. Opens so that you can understand emotions and allow them to flow. This feels liberating.
Triple Burner 16, on the posterior edge of the oblique neck muscle, at the height of the jaw. Opens the senses. Makes you aware of the communication of your body and soul. Brings peace to restlessness, supports when the body is stressed and confused, for example also with autoimmune diseases.
Stomach 12, on the collarbone. Deepens respiration, and relaxes. This point is like a gate to the inside: from many meridians, a deeper branch departs from this point to the organs and tissues that are less easy to reach through stretching. The same goes for the Triple Burner. Acupressure on Stomach 12 nourishes the organs and tissues and purifies them energetically. In this way, it is also a portal through which your consciousness can flow in and helps you to center. Centering means that you can feel your own center and life force energy so that you are not dependent on attention or confirmation from others – you know that you are of value.
The abdomen. This area is also called “the lower heater”. In my books Do-In, tao yoga for health and energy, and The Essence of Makkō-Hō and the Stretches of Masunaga, I explain that the trunk is divided into 3 areas that work together thanks to the integrating action of the Triple Burner. The abdomen is also the energetic center of the body. Bringing your attention to this center gives a resting point in yourself.
