In this video, Prof. Dr. Benedikt Kaufer offers an overview of manuscript preparation for submission to scientific journals. He talks as well about the utilisation of pre-print servers to guarantee immediate availability to the scientific community and receive manuscript feedback during the peer-review submission process is being done. Additionally, he shares general guidelines to define author contributions in a paper and recommendations on how to solve authorship conflicts.
About the speaker:
Dr Benedik Kaufer is the Director of the Institute of Virology at the Free University of Berlin and is a Professor for Resistance in Virus Infections and Vaccines. He concluded his doctoral studies at the Cornell University, graduating as PhD for Comparative Biomedical Science. His scientific work focuses on viral integration, tumorigenesis, and evolution of distinct herpesvirus. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Robert Koch postdoctoral award and Loeffler-Frosch-Award of the German Society for Virology. He has authored more than 70 scientific publications and participated as reviewer and editor for several peer-reviewed scientific journals.
About “Good Scientific Practice Online Minisymposium”
The Center of Infection Biology and Immunity (ZIBI) organized this online minisymposium to provide the attendees and viewers a general overview of the national and international regulations and guidelines to comply with Good Scientific Practice. This minisymposium is intended to promote a culture of research integrity in young scientists. This is also an activity to encourage the discussion of problems in the scientific community such as scientific misconduct, lack of reproducibility in science and the -sometimes rough- path to get published in scientific journals.
