(20 Feb 2015) Ukrainian military personnel who were fighting separatist rebels in the country's east gave a news briefing in Kiev on Friday.
Lieutenant colonel Alexander Lobos from the 37th infantry battalion spoke about the Ukrainian army pulling out of the key rail hub town of Debaltseve.
"There was no possibility to supply ammunition for further defence of the position," he said.
Russian-backed rebels captured the town on Thursday in a significant victory, as it straddles the route between the separatists' two main cities, Donetsk and Luhansk.
The battle for Debaltseve defied a ceasefire for eastern Ukraine that was supposed to go into effect on Sunday.
