In Celebration, Here's a Little Slice of "Picon Pie"*
Molly Picon first walked onstage in 1904; over the next seven decades she starred in Yiddish-language movies and English-language television, on Broadway and almost anywhere else where a light could be trained on a stage.
April 1977 found her in Miami and she dropped by WTVJ's studios for a little interview -- a reminiscence of her previous birthday spent in Miami (playing "A Majority of One" at the Carillon), and of a lovely telegram from a certain president of the United States.
* Yes, "Picon Pie," a musical retelling of Molly Picon's life and times, was a real thing. The show played Off Broadway in 2004-2005.
