US President Bill Clinton ended his 12-day trip to Africa on Thursday (02/04) with a poignant visit to Goree Island off the coast of Senegal, once a key transit point in the slave trade between the continent and the Americas.
Senegalese President Abdou Diouf accompanied the Clintons on a visit to a former slave house where they were shown the infamous "Door of No Return". Once captured into a life of slavery, countless Africans were forced through the door and onto boats for the voyage to the Americas.
