The chamber must be cut to precise dimensions to ensure a tight, accurate fit between the cartridge and the chamber. This helps to prevent excessive movement of the cartridge and ensures reliable ignition and consistent accuracy. The gunsmith may use a variety of tools, such as reamers, to create the chamber, and will carefully measure and inspect the chamber to ensure it meets the required specifications.
