(17 May 2017) Ivanka Trump, assistant to the president and first daughter, lead a panel discussion at the White House Wednesday, calling for a stop human trafficking.
This is the second meeting held on the subject since the administration took over in January.
The first was led by the President Trump, but today Ivanka oversaw the meeting, and legislative leaders were added, "to discuss concrete steps through legislation."
"Regrettable the United States is both a source and destination country for individuals subjected to human trafficking," said Ivanka Trump.
"In 2016, there was over 8,000 cases reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, a 35 percent increase from 2015. These figures are sadly moving in the wrong direction and its our responsibility to put an end to human trafficking once and for all."
