Why would an Afrobeats Atritst leave the UK and move to Sierra Leone? I speak to Alim Kamara, about how he met the First Lady and why he plans to move to Sierra Leone.
Alim Kamara is a British-Sierra Leonean hip-hop/afrobeat musician. As a child living in Sierra Leone, Alim would listen to Djelis (storytellers), admiring the way they weaved lessons through their tales. When he moved to London and started his music career, he used this same technique to achieve number one singles in both Sierra Leone and Nigeria, ‘Let’s Get Lost’ Remix ft Sharlene Hector, and Noto PlayPlay, a track that mixes English and Krio (a version of broken English found in Sierra Leone).
