I’ve been trying to practice booksharing with Greyson after being introduced to the 3ts. The 3ts are Tune in, To share more and To take Turns. I’ve been trying to stay focused on what Greysons focusing on to keep the engagement going it’s a big key in booksharing. We were all taught to read books from left to right and we want to teach our kids that but at ages 1-3 it may be hard to get your kid to stay engaged. To keep your children engaged use the 3ts effectively. Stay tuned in to what they’re focusing on on the page, Share the book with them giving them control to turn pages and use descriptive words like the “speckled log!”Or “spotted Green Frog!”. Take turns in your conversation too it gives them the opportunity to sharpen their speech and parrot words with you. The key is to keep the interaction going the more you interact the more they learn. Putting words in their “piggy bank” is a good strategy for speech development too. Even if they don’t understand it yet they will have it in their bank that ties in with using more descriptive words too.
