Part I of a series filmed from the jumpseat of a Surinam Airways (SLM) A34-311, showing the Startup, Taxi and Take-off phase. The flight takes us across the Atlantic, from Paramaribo, SMJP (Surinam) to Amsterdam, EHAM (The Netherlands), a 4000nm, 9,5 half hour flight. Loads were relatively light, with little over 80 pax onboard.
Especially Interesting for those interested in the communication part of Operations as it shows how every clearance, every instruction is read back, especially when it comes to entering the active runway (11). You could say a result of decades of 'experience'. Note how the runway is verified by the 'Electric Jet' and how the Captain calls out 'Takeoff', before advancing the throttles..
Special thanks goes out to Captain E. Goede, First Officer M. Jap and the friendly cabincrew of SLM for making this already exciting flight (going home after 7 months), extra special for me.
