A look back at the early life of Petah Tikva Anshe Castilla Congregation in Toronto.
Starting in the late 1950's in a downtown house on D'arcy Street, Petah Tikva's membership grew rapidly and the need for a bigger space was required. The membership purchased an existing Synagogue on Brunswick Ave. and it flourished with the rapid increase of immigrants from Morocco. In the early 70's with the population moving north on Bathurst St., Petah Tikva acquired a property on Ellerslie Ave. Prior to building, a more ideal space became available on Danby Ave. where the Congregation has been since 1974.
With tremendous thanks to Sr. Isaac Cohen, z'l for taping all the video footage, his son Sam Cohen for the tireless work in converting & editing the footage and to Elie Oziel for adding the music and titles.
