It was opening weekend at Crystal Mountain WA and with limited lifts open I decided to splitboard. Crystal has changed the the amount of days you can ride lifts with an Ikon pass from unlimited to 7 days. The conditions on the open runs were not nearly as good as what I found.
My Intention was to Splitboard to the top of queens but when I looked at the shaded chutes off the king, I decided to pivot. It took me a little over 2 hours to reach the top. After hanging out and transitioning from ski to board mode two skiers joined me. They were from Bend and asked to tag along for a run. I showed them a cool zone and we rode all the way to the bottom. I was able to take a run through the mini park to end it. I found great snow throughout the run and was stoked on the solo splitboard mission.
