Review and test of the Soviet ShM-41 gas mask. This particular model being as East German army issue mask is technically the SchM-41, because for some reason East Germany added a C to Soviet mask names.
ShM means "Helmet Mask" when translated to English, the Russian name is "Шлем Маска"
The ShM-41 is the precursor to the famous ShM-62U/GP-5 gas mask, the GP-5 basically being a ShM-41 with a smaller inhale/exhale valve assembly, making the mask faster and cheaper to produce for civilians.
This mask has come with an EO-16/EO-65K filter, these contain asbestos so I have had to make it safe to use by installing an additional P3 particulate filter between the filter and the hose intake.
This mask is also known as just the M41 or the Aardvark.
The mask was also made in Communist Poland as the OM-14 respirator.
