The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the first list of 189 candidates who will be contesting the Karnataka Assembly polls.

Of the 189 candidates, 52 are new faces who have been given the tickets. The list includes 32 candidates from the OBC community, 30 from SC and 16 from the ST community. The list has 31 PhD holders and 31 candidates who have post-graduate degrees.

After the list was released, Karnataka CM Bommai took to Twitter and said, "There is an atmosphere in favour of double engine government rule all over the state and this time we are going to form an absolute majority government."
