Arnav says that college is a good time to experiment you can go into college without knowing your major. You can change your track. He wanted to do Economics and decided to do a double major with international relations. Take a few courses and decide by sophomore year.

You are not disadvantaged by doing a certain major. You need not major in finance and business during your undergraduation to find an investment banking job. Knowledge of accounting and finance at the undergraduation is not mandatory. You can learn in other ways during college and most learning is on the job. Be ready to learn new stuff and go outside of what the class requires you to.

Internships are important - the junior summer internship should ideally be in a field that you see yourself working in. Deadlines are before December. Apply for internships early on in the junior year should go in early, it is called Resume drops. Accelerated programs may have November deadlines.

Go in for a resume check with your career center. Meeting deadlines can be very important. Ask seniors for help. F1 visa has a 12 month OPT period. 2 months of that get used after juinor year. 10 months are applicable soon after college gets over.

Networking is important, get in touch with alumni, update your linkedin profile. CPT is subject to your major, subject to approval and you get credits for it, you may also get paid.

You need to apply for the OPT as soon as you know your dates are known, it takes three months before the OPT is approved and the OPT card is with you. Look for companies that can sponsor your visa. H1b Visa approval is an absolute number. STEM students have a longer OPT. Though non stem students can also get visas. You can work in another country office of the company. The H1B visa is taking longer to process.
