रिट, कोर्ट का एक उपकरण या आदेश है, जिसके द्वारा सर्वोच्च न्यायालय या उच्च न्यायालय किसी व्यक्ति, अधिकारी या प्राधिकारी को एक कार्य करने या करने से रोकने का निर्देश देती है।
ऐसा आदेश चाहने वाला व्यक्ति सम्बंधित न्यायालय में याचिका दायर कर सकता है, जिसे रिट याचिका के रूप में जाना जाता है।
