Lee Soo-eun has more.
On Thursday, in the usually-peaceful city of Roseburg, Oregon, U.S.A., chaos ensued.
A gunman reportedly demanded that his victims reveal their religions before opening fire at a community college, killing at least 10 and injuring seven others.
The number of casualties is lower than earlier reports... but the community has been left in shock and despair.
American broadcaster CBS News reported that the shooter was a 26 year-old man by the name of Chris Harper Mercer.
The police confirmed Mercer died after an exchange of gunfire with officers,... but said it′s too early to comment on motive or whether he acted alone.
The Oregon massacre is the 45th shooting to take place at a college and one of the many mass shootings that have taken place in the U.S..
And it has once again fueled the debate on tighter gun control laws.
U.S. President Barack Obama, at a briefing about the incident on Thursday, said that thoughts and prayers were not enough and that the United States was the only advanced nation to lack sufficient common sense regarding its gun-safety laws in the face of mass killings.
CNN reported that four firearms were found on the scene.
According to Reuters, survivors of the rampage have been transported away from campus, while the injured are being treated in a nearby hospital including three in critical condition.
