Today we are reviewing the Honda CB500X.

We've had the privilege to put this low seat machine through the test down in Patagonia the last few years and we are very excited about this 2019 model. There have been some significant improvements wedging the CB500X further into the adventure riding category. For one, being the upgrade this year to a 19" front wheel instead of the 17" we saw in previous years.

IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE 2019 HONDA CB500X COMPARED TO PREVIOUS YEARS:

-4% torque gain: Valves, fueling, and exhaust
-Slipper clutch
-redesigned front end to deflect hot air
-larger adjustable windscreen
-19” front wheel!
-approx 1/2 inch more ground clearance & suspension travel
-3 degree increase in steering lock – 8 inches tighter radius
-New rubber mounts in risers
-New larger display and shift/gear indicator
-LED lighting and turn signals
-27.5 degree rake (+1 degree, more high-speed stability)
-ABS or non-ABS version

PRO’s
-60+ mpg with 4.6 gallons, 300+ mile range
-Pulls strong over 4000 rpm’s
-Sized for riders with shorter legs
-Nimble, fun, flickable bike
-Tubeless wheels
-Very versatile bike overall
-Great lower seat for those shorter riders

CON’s
-Not for Large riders
-Cast aluminum wheels, but no dents yet?
-2-Up riders, only the petite
-Engine weak at low rev’s
-No center stand or protection
-Rubber-only footpegs
-Suspension preload adjustments only

Overall:
In this review we found the 2019 Honda CB500X to be a great overall reliable bike that has come along way to make itself stand out in the ADV category. We look forward to continuing to carry this line in our rental fleets for our tours and further put it through the test.
