In this work, a melodic line played by the double bass, initially surrounded with a harmonic "aura" by the synthesizer, develops within a closed sphere.
In an ascending sense, the melodic line acquires an inner movement: Remaining unchanged from the melodic viewpoint, the evolution occurs only at the level of other parameters (rhythm, timbre and intensity). This suggests the impossibility of leaving behind a certain limited condition. One may also consider the evolution as taking place only on the surface, while deep in the essence, the sound phenomenon remains unchanged, leaving the impression of a whirling, or static movement, of a nonevolutive evolution.
This unreal (paradoxical) movement of the ascending melodic line in its nostalgic quest for some other melody, well balanced as it is, becomes a haven of peace and reconcilement, like a saving outlet from the obsessive dance in a vicious circle. It crosses the purgatory of its own echo released like a storm, or a fire, or like a magic whirl in which the ascending melodic hypostasis is dramatically broken up. Within this very echo, in frenetical repetitions, gradually comes to life the opposite melodic hypostasis – the descending one.
The two contradictory hypostases – like the scattered fragments of an ancient valuable object – suggest the reconstitution, by joining the pieces together, of the Ricercare theme from Bach's "Musical offering". "The shadoof of the gate" comments, as it were, in an oneiric space and time on the hidden meanings of Bach's theme, releasing its secret potential energies.
