Six films of early exploration introduced from the Royal Geographical Society by Duncan Carse.
'Mount Everest is great and beautiful. Marvellously built: majest, terrible'.
So wrote one of the first climbers to stand beneath the peak of the highest mountain in the world. Yet, these early pioneers were to get withi n 1,700 feet of the summit: biouvac through a blizzard; get frost-bite and windburn; and at the end of their triumphs and tribulations, return with a classic film of early mountaineering.
