The UK Independence Party (UKIP) is on the verge of having its first MP in parliament.
Claiming that traditional political clans which have dominated British politics for generations have had their day, the party wants Britain to pull out of the EU and stricter controls on immigration.
A by-election for Clacton-on-Sea in eastern England, to be held on Thursday, was caused by the defection of an MP from Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservative Party to UKIP.
Al Jazeera's Laurence Lee reports from Clacton-on-Sea.
