Don Cornelius, who was the creator of the legendary musical variety show Soul Train, died tragically today. I grew up watching Soul Train on Saturday mornings in the 70s 80s 90s and 2000s I remember seeing artists like Ashford & Simpson The Temptations Gladys Knight & the Pips Al Green Bill Withers The Staple Singers Joe Tex Aretha Franklin Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes Stevie Wonder James Brown The Jackson 5 The Spinners The Isley Brothers Curtis Mayfield Marvin Gaye The O'Jays Rufus featuring Chaka Khan Eddie Kendricks The Whispers Janet Jackson, The Fat Boys Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston, Aaliyah, Tevin Campbell, Al B. Sure, Eric Benet, Mya Lil' Kim The Avila Brothers T.I Chris Brown Robin Thicke Lil Wayne Snoop Dogg Zapp and Roger Destiny's Child,
and the list goes on. The song playing is the mid to 1970s 1980s 1990s and 2000s version of the Soul Train intro that was used when I was growing up.
