This is the moment a lucky shopkeeper escaped a snake as the reptile chased a rat for lunch.
CCTV footage shows the shopkeeper looking down at his phone as he enters the shop before sitting on the shop counter unaware the animals lurking nearby.
But as he twists his body to move behind the till the shocked worker notices a snake racing racing towards the middle of the shop floor before fleeing the store in Madhya Pradesh, central India.
Footage shows a petrified rat running around the tiny confectionary store as the hungry snake makes his bid to eat him alive.
The ravenous snake can then be seen aggressively checking gaps in the shop shelves in a bid to find the escaped rat.
The snake is then said to have slithered out of the shop and into a crowd of shoppers in the hope of finding food.
The video was filmed on the 6th September 2021.
