Patients will have to wait longer to have operations on the health service, as bosses try to cope with growing demand and tighter budgets. The head of NHS England told 5 News that if hospitals are to improve emergency services and cancer care, there will have to be a trade off. That means increasing waiting times for non-urgent procedures such as joints replacement and some heart surgery. Doctors say they're worried that could have serious consequences.
